Abortion Rights’ Annual General Meeting will be on March 29th, 2014in central London. The AGM is open to all members, and will include the usual formalities as well as interesting talks and stalls; we will circulate more details early in the New Year.

ACTION: Report on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), European Parliament
On Tuesday 10th December, the SRHR Report will again be presented in plenary. It is vital that Members of European Parliament (MEPs) hear the prochoice voice loud and clear! Please write to your MEPs, tweet using #SRHRreport and keep up to date at @Europeanwomen.

We happily attended SERTUC Women’s Committee on 21st November to chat about how abortion access is a working women and trade union issue, and what Abortion Rights has been up to. We’re proud of our trade union ties – feel free to invite us to any of your events!
STUCMotion on Northern Ireland
Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) Women’s Committee passed an emergency motion to work to support Northern Irish women’s right to abortion healthcare. Abortion Rights strongly welcomes this motion.
Abortion before UN Human Rights Committee, Ireland
On 11th November, the Center for Reproductive Rights (USA) took the case of an Irish woman forced to travel to the UK for an abortion after receiving a fetal abnormality diagnosis.Johanna Westeson, regional director for Europe at the Center for Reproductive Rights, commented that “Rather than being provided with the best medical care possible, Irish women with nonviable pregnancies are instead cruelly denied the option of safely and legally ending their pregnancy”.
