Kerry Abel, Chair of Abortion Rights, commented:
“Abortion Rights has long been concerned about the activities of crisis pregnancy centres which push an anti-choice agenda on clients, and which spread misinformation about abortion.
“We welcome this Dispatches investigation, and hope that it will raise awareness of CPCs so that fewer people are taken in by their claims to be ‘non-directive’. It is especially worrying that an NHS Trust has allegedly been directing patients to an anti-choice group, potentially exposing them to distress and upset, and we urge all NHS bodies, from Trusts to GP surgeries, to review the organisations they link to on their websites and refer patients to in person, to ensure that an anti-choice group has not slipped through the net.”
