Following the news that the UK government have confirmed that abortion law will be devolved to Scotland, two motions have been lodged at the Scottish Parliament (currently in recess) regarding abortion rights.
One motion is for abortion rights and the other is very much against them. It’s important to ask your MSPs to sign Patrick Harvie MSP’s motion in support of abortion rights.
This motion was lodged by Patrick Harvie MSP, co-convener of the Scottish Greens, in support of choice:

Commitment to Women’s Reproductive Rights
That the Parliament notes the stated intention of the Secretary of State for Scotland to amend the Scotland Bill to achieve the devolution of abortion law; recognises the fundamental importance of women’s sexual and reproductive rights, and commits to defend those rights against any attempt to undermine women’s access to safe and legal abortion in Scotland.

John Mason MSP (SNP) lodged the below motion on 19th October against abortion rights. This clearly demonstrates that it will be important throughout the process of devolving abortion law to Scotland to speak up for pro-choice rights. Devolution of Abortion Law
That the Parliament notes the stated intention of the Secretary of State for Scotland to amend the Scotland Bill to achieve the devolution of abortion law; recognises what it considers the fundamental rights of babies to be protected both before and after birth as well as the importance of women’s sexual and reproductive rights, and commits to achieving a proper balance between these respective rights.
John Mason confirmed to the press on 19th October that he is keen to see the current UK 24-week limit reduced when law is devolved to Scotland.
