Special Edition Newsletter: How you can help!
Abortion Rights needs your help to continue campaigning. It’s often thought that abortion is a non-negotiable right, but protecting choice remains just as important today. Sadly, it’s becoming harder for us to defend and extend choice on our dwindling resources.
There are many ways you can chip in to our fighting fund to defend and extend choice — and really, every little bit helps.
To campaign as best we can, we need to be on top of our online game. To do this, our website needs your help. We have fantastic content on the site and so much more we want to add, but it needs a restructure, redesign and a few new features to be really top notch.
You can also contribute by letting us know what you want from our website upgrade; please email the office if you have suggestions.
We’re running 10k to keep Abortion Rights running!
Our campaigns project officer, Casey, and fabulous volunteer, Giulia, are currently training up for the London leg of the British 10k Run on July 13th.
Cheer them on by donating to the run! Hyperlink when live on May 13
Are you running (walking, swimming, jumping, baking, sleeping or any other activity!) anytime soon? Get in touch to discuss fundraising for us.
Like an element of surprise? Play the pro-choice lottery and you’ll be in the running for a jackpot of up to £200 each month. Tickets will cost you just £2 per month — and the more you buy, the higher your chance of success! Contact the office to set up a standing order.
Abortion Rights Cardiff
If you’re in Wales, you may want to get involved in pro-choice protesting with Abortion Rights Cardiff.
Abortion Rights Cardiff formed primarily in response to 40 Days For Life picketing the BPAS clinic in Cardiff in March 2013. Abortion Rights Cardiff came together out of a shared concern for clinic patients and staff being harassed on a daily basis. While smaller in number, 40 DFL have again been picketing clinics in 2014.
Our Cardiff group has a small committee that meets regularly, largely enabled by generous union support. They are planning an AGM in the coming weeks. Please contact
Legacies and bequests
You can elect to leave money to Abortion Rights in your will, helping to ensure future generations rights will be extended and defended.
Please contact the office to organise making a bequest.
‘In kind’ donations
Are you able to sponsor office goods and/or campaign materials? This could include stationery, pop ups, banners, branded merchandise, rally gear (a PA, megaphone, collection tins etc.), office furniture…and more!
Maybe you can help us by giving us a hand with a service? This could mean covering our bulk printing or mail outs from your office, for example.
To donate in kind, please contact the office on the details below.
Our volunteers are extremely valuable to Abortion Rights’ work. We’re currently focussing on increasing opportunities for volunteers to get involved; from tasks such as running stalls at union conferences, to blogging for us, to administrative support in the office.
If you have a skill that you think will be useful to the Abortion Rights campaign, get in touch!
Unions and Political Parties
Union member? Political party member? You can propose affiliating to Abortion Rights for as little as £40 per year. All you need to do is complete the affiliation form and post it to us with a cheque.
Additionally, your branch can make a one-off donation to support Abortion Rights’ campaigning for choice.
We are building networks of supporters in trade unions and political parties, and offer speakers for events such as Conference fringe meetings. Let us know if you would like to be part of the Abortion Rights activist network in an organisation of which you are already a member.
Abortion Rights is the UK’s single only grass roots, nationwide, membership-based organisation campaigning on choice. Membership fees are our largest consistent source of income. To become part of the Abortion Rights, join us!
Be Public with Your Pro-choice
From tweeting, liking and talking about Abortion Rights to talking more generally about abortion — starting the conversation, and contributing to it in a non-shaming way, are vitally important. For every retweet, like and comment of public support we get, we build our fantastic pro-choice community and extend the reach of Abortion Rights’ voice.
