Jepson loses her legal challenge Print E-mail
PRESS RELEASE

Abortion Rights welcomes the decision by the Crown Prosecution Service not to take legal action against the doctors who authorised a late abortion on a foetus with cleft lip palate. Cleft palate can be symptomatic of severe disability. Abortions on these grounds are extremely rare but lawful in the UK. No woman or doctor takes the decision of late abortion lightly and the doctors clearly acted in the best interest the woman.

What emerges from this case is that the anti-abortion lobby, who supported Jepson, will go out of their way to criminalise women and doctors, without any concern for those involved.
