Abortion Rights relies both on paid staff and volunteers and interns to carry out our important campaigning work. Details of vacancies for volunteers and interns will be carried on this page and also in our e-bulletins, which you can sign up for in the box on the home page.
Abortion Rights needs two enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers (unpaid) to support the administration and campaigns work of the office. This is an exciting opportunity to directly support women’s key rights during a time of heightened anti-choice lobby attacks and pro-choice movement activity. Volunteers will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and experience in a voluntary sector setting. The work will be based in our London office. It will include administration support for developing our active membership base and assistance in our current campaign to defend legal abortion rights against attack. This will involve updating database records; communicating with members; coordinating with trade union, student and women’s movement allies; writing short articles and distributing literature. The commitment will be a minimum of 1 day (ideally 2 days) a week for a period of at least three months. Your travel costs within London and a lunch allowance will be paid. The person must be educated to degree level and preferably have relevant additional experience. You will need good written and verbal communication skills; good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Access; be able to follow instruction and be capable of working independently and managing your own time effectively. You must be hard working, versatile and committed to the work and aims of Abortion Rights. The vacancies are available immediately. If you are interested in this opportunity please email a CV and covering letter including full details of your availability to choice@abortionrights.org.uk. Interviews will take place subsequently. |
