A National Conference on Women’s Rights
FEM 05 will be held on Saturday 5th November 2005. It is the second in the series of FEM Conferences, which aim to educate, inspire and motivate people to get involved in campaigns for gender equality. The conferences are unique in providing a central forum for the varied campaign groups and individuals involved in the feminist movement to come together and share experiences and knowledge. Anne Quesney, Director of Abortion Rights, will be participating in this year’s event.
The first in the series of FEM Conferences – FEM 04 – brought together leading women’s rights organisations, including Abortion Right, WOMANKIND Worldwide, The Fawcett Society and Amnesty International (Stop Violence Against Women campaign).
This one-day conference consisted of talks and workshops on issues such as violence against women, reproductive rights, and women’s political representation. Owing to the success of FEM 04, the FEM Conferences will now be run on an annual basis, providing a national forum for learning, discussing and campaigning on women’s rights.
The key themes of this year’s conference will be:
- Violence Against Women
- Multiple Identities
- Women in the Workplace
