student leaflet front (2).jpg Control over fertility is crucial for women studying in further or higher education. The introduction of the contraceptive pill and the legalisation of abortion have transformed women’s lives – increasing control over when, and if, to have children and so boosting women’s education and employment prospects, incomes and opportunities.

Women, including graduates, still face a huge gender pay gap and are under-represented in nearly all positions of power in society. An LSE study, in 2005, showed reproductive rights and choices have improved women’s social, economic and political position to a greater degree than equal pay and equal opportunities legislation.

The student movement has played an important role in supporting women’s rights to abortion for decades. We are pleased to have the enthusiastic support and affiliation of the National Union of Students and a number of student unions across the country. We urge all student unions to affiliate to our campaign and individual supporters to join for just £5 a year

You can also make a real difference by supporting our campaign initiatives. Our student information, membership and affiliation leaflet is available to download here.
